While I have trouble understanding any justification for war decing an ally for trying to salvage what they have left after losing their central hub station, regardless of who's fault the loss was, that point has been argued enough. :P
I will say that as a standard grunt in KOS, the only LV I ever saw prior to the war dec was when we formed to go help LV. I was one of the first through the gate when we came to bail LV out with 100 man fleet while they deployed GB-. Certainly never saw LV in the qgq area while they were our "friends", but suddenly they were able to be there in force the moment they were our enemies. :P
I'm not much into politics. I check these boards once a week at most when I'm bored, or to read how wars on the other side of the map are going. My opinion of alliances is based off what I've seen of them in-game, and honestly, I was thrilled when KOS backed off its northern campaign and came back south to fight LV. In the time we've been here, RA, Goon, and TCF have shown to be better allies than LV ever even pretended to be.
Take it for what you will (which generally isn't much on game forums. :P ) but that's the view of somebody outside the propaganda political wheelings and dealings, based just on the day to day. I know when I'm in trouble I've got friends I can count on now. Never had that feeling with LV.
At any rate, it all works out in the end. I'm happy with the core group that's goin at in KOS right now. I'm happy with our new allies. Most of all, I'm happy being in a war against somebody I'd actually like to see fall, rather than somebody I'm fighting just because I want their space. :P Meaningful PvP is what makes EVE great, and LV's helped make it even better!

(note that while I don't like that -V- war deced us also, I don't really have hard feelings toward them. Prior to the war dec I had the feeling of alliance with -V-, and saw them in action many times. -V- were allies, LV was a group that lived south of us who we went to help out from time to time.)
